Passport to Partner Services Announcement
The Disease Intervention Training Centers are transitioning to a new era with PS20-2003. The aim is to transform disease intervention services training by expanding training content consistent with the disease intervention specialist (DIS) job task analysis (JTA) core competencies, and enhancing knowledge and skills to support the changing role of DIS and DIS certification. During the first year of this transition, interim courses (a modified version of five-day Passport to Partner Services) will be provided by PS20-2003 Regional Training Center staff.
ALERT: Given the evolving situation with COVID-19, in-person Passport to Partner Services training courses are suspended until further notice.
We recognize that training in interview and partner elicitation-notification/contact tracing is a critical part of workforce development for disease intervention services staff. However, in light of national and state recommendations regarding COVID-19, we want to respect restrictions (e.g., limitations on group gatherings, limitations on travel, shelter in place recommendations) and protect the health and safety of the public health staff and our communities.
We also want to support state and local response efforts, and have heard that many local and state health departments are engaged in an "all hands on deck" approach for COVID-19 response. We are actively working on "standing up" online knowledge-based training modules to support client interview, partner elicitation-notification/contact tracing and telephone interviewing on the CDC TRAIN learning platform. Please check back for updates, we will post information on the website as distance-based learning becomes available.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and wish you and your families the best at this unprecedented time.
